Fought in the War of 1812 from TN, was a Baptist Minister and pastor of Mouth of Richand Church 1826-1855, "ambitious, strong and uncompromising in his view of truth and duty."
According to J. J. Burnett's Tennessee's Pioneer Baptist Preachers published 1919, "Rev. James Kennon was a Baptist Minister, and was pastor of the Mouth of Richland Church from March 1826 until 1855. He was elected moderator of the Tennessee Association in 1840. He was pastor of New Market, Adair's Creek, and perhaps other churches, as well as his home church, the Mouth of Richland. James Kennon was one of the ablest men of his day. As a preacher he was a man of dignified and courtly manner, and a commanding speaker. Tall and imposing in appearance, with a massive physique. He was ambitious, strong and uncompromising in his views of truth and duty."
