Southeast Daily Republican, Sat, Feb 25, 1893, page 3 Eli Ervin was born in North Carolina, May 29, 1805 and died at the residence of his grandson, Mr Charles McDonald in this city about 5 o'clock, PM, February 21, 1893. He walked here from North Carolina in 1822 and has lived here ever since, having razed ten children, five of whom survive and with a numerous host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren to mourn his loss. Mr Ervin made no profession of religion, but lived an exemplary moral Life. He was accustomed to have a family reunion on his birth-day at which time he often had a preacher to talk to those present. His wife died in 1877. Funeral from the residence- of Mr Charles McDonald to his old place four and 1/2 miles north of town, Thursday February 23, 1893 at 9:30 A.M. Elder C. T. Daniel, officiating. |
