Obituary of Martha Worley (Tinkler)

Piedmont Weekly Banner June 5, 1919

Mrs. Martha Melissa Worley was born February 14, 1848 and died April 30, 1919, age 71 years, 2 months and 16 days. She was married December 29, 1865 to Audrew Worley at Chester, IL. To this union was born ten children all of whom lived to be grown, but two have preceeded their mother to a better world.

Grandma, as she was affectionately called by all who knew her was a Christian in every meaning of the word, and a blessing to the community in which she lived. She was converted more than 50 years ago and joined the Baptist Church and lived a devoted Christian life. She was a patient sufferer and talked to us about going home, and a few nights before her death she sand, “I am Going Home To Die No More,” and rejoiced because she would soon to be with her Savior. We miss her so much but we know she is happy where she has gone, and that she is waiting for us there.

She is survived by a husband, five sons and three daughters.

Bro. Bane pastor of the Baptist Church conducted the funeral services at the church on May, after which she was laid to rest in the Masonic Cemetery. The children attending the funeral were J. W. Worley, and family, Ester, MO, Mrs. Ellen Biri and family, Ester, MO, A.D. Worley and family, Annapolis, Mrs. J.D. Lloyd and children, Fal, LA, Mrs Rolan Mann and Mr. Everett Mann, Annapolis, J.E.Worley and family and Mrs. C.D.Sickles and family of Piedmont.

Burial 1 May 1919 Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont, Wayne, Missouri, United States of America
