Maurice W. "Bill" Remington, 71, of Crestview, Fla., formerly of Dubuque, died Friday, March 2, 2001, in Crestview.
Cremation will be conducted by Whitehurst Funeral Home, Crestview.
Mr. Remington was last employed as a lieutenant with the Dubuque Fire Department, having served 22 years, until his retirement in 1982.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1929, in Diagonal, Iowa, son of Martin L. and Esther (Morrow) Remington. He was married to Patricia A. (Casey) Remington for 26 years, until 1980; she survives.
He served in the Navy from 1948 to 1952. He was a 32-year resident of Dubuque. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Firefighters.
Surviving are three sons, William P. Remington, of Evansville, Ind., Keith A. (Susan) Remington, of Shelbyville, Ind., and James M. Remington, of Lemoore, Calif.; two daughters, Susan M. (Robert) Dybdahl and Carol M. (Allen) Pierce, both of Lemoore, Calif.; two brothers, Melvin G. (Freida) Remington, of Bogalusa, La., and Harold L. Remington, of Compton, Ark.; a sister, E. Joy (John) Young, of Crestview, Fla.; fours grandsons, Christopher M. Parson, of Oregon, David J. Arensdorf, of Iowa, and R.J. and Alex Remington, both of Wisconsin; and six granddaughters, Jennifer Parson, Janaye Pierce and Julia Pierce, all of California, Angela Remington, of Wisconsin, and Katherine and Kimberly Remington, both of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Remington; a granddaughter, Stacy Arensdorf; and a brother, Donald Remington.
