MRS. ROLAND BARTON

Mrs. Roland BARTON of Cantwell passed away on Tuesday morning, January 8, 1952 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, ending a prolonged illness. The former Laura Abbitt, daughter of the late Frank and Fannie Abbitt, she was born in Farmington on January 3, 1908, and at the time of death was 44 years 5 days of age.

Her mother passed away when Laura was 18 months of age and she was reared in the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Henry S. Bouchard, who were her foster parents. Both preceded her in death.

On June 16, 1924 she was united in marriage to Roland Earl BARTON and they were the parents of four children: Jean (Mrs. Thos.) Berghoefer, Cedar Hill, Mo.; Doris (Mrs. Robert) Mudge, House Springs, Mo.; Donald BARTON, Crystal City; and Janeth, at home. Besides her husband and children she leaves a sister, Mrs. Wm. Newberger, Chicago, Ill.; two half-brothers, Roy Abbitt, Los Angeles, Calif., and Frank Abbitt, Lemay, Mo.; her step-mother, Mrs. Tina Smith, Lemay; and two grandchildren, Gary Lynn Mudge and Larry Wayne Berghoefer.

Mrs. Barton was converted at an early age and lived close to the Lord, working faithfully in her church as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cantwell, where funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, conducted by Rev. Elmer Polk of Piggott, Ark., and her pastor, Rev. Arthur Ellis. Burial was in Parkview Cemetery. C.Z. Boyer and Son Service.
